I have used Ameriprise for years and they even paid on a claim for my wife 10-12 years ago. Then my kids go their licenses (17 and 20 now) and my son had a couple of fender-benders ($7,500 and $2,500 payout).

My insurance continued to rise until the last rate increase, precipitated by some screw-ups on mileage estimates on my part and then the readjustment. Well, this past Monday the yearly rate hit $7,200, including my daughter who is far away at college with no car. My rate on our 2002 Highlander has gone from $400/yr to $2,000/yr, even though I am still the driver. I went to AAA yesterday and my son got his own policy for $1550/year and the remaining 3 cars we insured for $2,000.

I saved over $3,500 in one day!

And I moved my home policy from Ameriprise to AAA, a couple hundred dollars more ($901 to $1,087), but more coverage. Kind of feel like that proverbial frog put in a cool pot of water that slowly heats up until the frog boiled to death!!

Reason of review: Pricing issue.
